This now depends on which edition of the software you’re using.
The current client software runs on your website, but transparently accesses our API at api.biblesupersearch.com. This is the default functionality. Users are not redirected to our website.
However, you can install our API on your website, along side the client This will allow running the modern software entirely on your website. Please see our downloads page for details.
The legacy software (all versions before 2.5) runs completely on your website. (The legacy software will be supported with security fixes until May 5, 2020.)
What is Bible SuperSearch?
Please note: Bible SuperSearch does NOT run on a regular computer; it is designed for a website and needs a web server to run.
Why do you only offer Textus Receptus based Bibles?
We believe the Textus Receptus/Byzantine text to be the preserved Word of God. The majority (95%) of New Testament manuscripts agree with the Textus Receptus. However, most modern Bibles are based on only 5% of the manuscripts, making them incomplete at the least.
As researchers need to see other Bibles for evacuation purposes, we will be adding them in the future, but they will be plainly marked as for research purposes only.
For more information on the Bible manuscript text issue, please see
Will Bible SuperSearch ever support the Apocrypha?
Due to the Preserved Word Ministries statement of beliefs, we will never offer the Apocrypha with any of our software. However, this does not prevent you modifying the scripts and distributing it with support for the Apocrypha.
I have X Bible version with the proper licensing for it. How do I use it with Bible SuperSearch?
We will be releasing a package of developer’s tools soon that will allow you to import any text Bible into Bible SuperSearch.
Also, if you need help importing a Bible, you can have us produce the modules at a per hour rate. Contact us for details.
I have PHP 3.x. Can I run Bible SuperSearch?
You can use our client software because it doesn’t require PHP. Otherwise you will need to upgrade your PHP to run Bible SuperSearch.
My web hosting account has PHP, but no MySQL. Is there a Bible SuperSearch for me?
You can use our client software because it doesn’t require PHP or MySQL.
Or, you can build your own interface to point to our API
I don’t have either PHP or MySQL on my hosting account? What can I do?
You can use our standalone client software because it doesn’t require PHP or MySQL.
How do I download your software?
Go to our downloads page and order the software you want.
Once your payment has processed, you will be given a link to a .zip file. Click on the link, and save the file to your hard drive.
Extract the entire compressed file into one folder, and find the file that starts with “README” or “Install.” This will give you further instructions for installing the software.
I’m having trouble installing Bible SuperSearch Legacy. The installer keeps asking me to log in, or I keep getting a MySQL error.
(Note: this was only a problem with older versions of our Legacy software.)
First, you should upgrade to the current version (>=2.1.00). This version includes significant updates to the installer that should eliminate many of it’s reported problems. Second, you should make sure you are using a valid MySQL username and password. Consult with your webhost to verify your username/password.
What is Bible SuperSearch Pro? When will this be released?
Bible SuperSearch Pro (version 3.0) is an unreleased advanced edition of Bible SuperSearch. We have decided not to officially release it, but many of it’s features will be released with the upcoming version 4.0. You may preview Bible SuperSearch Pro HERE
What do you charge for Bible SuperSearch?
It is free. As in zero. After charging for it for a few years, we have decided to make it free again. While we offer it for free, please help us out, and order the paid download if you can. However, support will not be free. If you ask for support, you will be REQUIRED to give your order number or other proof before we can assist you. This includes all forms of support, including email.
Is Bible SuperSearch responsive? Will it look good on a tablet or mobile phone?
Generally speaking, yes, Bible SuperSearch IS responsive. However, there are some limitations. For parallel Bibles, we may enforce a limit as to the number of Bibles allowable based on scree n width. Also, the interface ‘Classic – Parallel 2’ is NOT responsive. We were able to make most of the classic interfaces responsive when we migrated them, but not this one. All the other forms and interfaces are responsive.
I obtained X version of Bible SuperSearch. Will you support it?
We only support purchased licenses of Bible SuperSearch. This includes email support. You will be required to provide an order number before any support is given. If you have obtained Bible SuperSearch from another source, you may gain support by purchasing the official download.
Is there a way that I can run Bible SuperSearch on my home computer?
Bible SuperSearch is web-based software, and therefore requires a web server to run. Bible Desktop
has a powerful retrieval/search syntax comparable with Bible SuperSearch, including Boolean search, and primitive proximity search. It will run on Linux, Mac, Windows, and BSD. (Preserved Word Ministries and Bible SuperSearch is NOT associated with the developers of Bible Desktop in any way.) If you REALLY want to run Bible SuperSearch on your computer, you will need to set it up as a webserver with PHP and MySQL. For Windows and Mac users, you can do this by installing XAMPP
