More Bibles Released! With Bible SuperSearch 1.6.30

Bible SuperSearch 1.6.30 has been released. Many more Bible modules available. While this is only a minor update to the program itself, it includes support for the new Bible modules. Bible modules include: Authorized King James Version Reina Valera 1602 (Spanish) Reina Valera 1909 (Spanish) Sagradas Escrituras 1569 (Spanish) Luther 1545 (German) Martin 1744 (French) La Bible de l’Épée (2005) (French) Diodati 1649 (Italian) Synodal 1876 (Russian) Cornilescu (Romanian) Smith Van Dyke (Arabic) Karoli (Hungarian) Staten Vertaling (Dutch) Most of these do NOT require upgrading to this release, except for the Arabic and Russian translations. However, it is highly recommended, since even the four old modules have been improved, and the KJV module was completely recompiled from a better source. Other changes to the software include: New Module creator tool that allows you to easily make modules from your own SQL database Bibles Bible list organizer tool lets you easily determine the order Bible versions appear in the selection menu. Several other tweaks on the manager and bug fixes.

More Bibles Coming Modules under development now.

Additional Bible modules are under development, and will be released soon.  These Bibles have been verified to agree with the KJV in MOST of these verses: 1 John 5:7, Isaiah 14:12, Mark 1:2, and Acts 8:37. Bibles in the following languages will be offered: Greek (Textus Receptus) French Italian Dutch Finnish Russian Arabic Romanian Czech Afrikaans Thai German (1 additional) Spanish (2 additional)

Bible SuperSearch 1.6 Released New Formatting Options Introduced

Bible SuperSearch 1.6.00 has been released. In the spirit of “release early, release often,” this new mini-release is the next step towards Bible SuperSearch 2.0 (planned release date: Late Summer 2007). This release introduces paginated search results. Previously, all results were displayed on the same page. Now, only 20 per page are displayed. The option of showing all results at once is maintained, however. Also, better text formatting was also introduced. Users can toggle between this formatting, and “EZ-Copy,” which formats the text in a way that is easy to copy and paste into word processor documents, for example. A future release will have additional text formatting options, such as text size and font style, and parallel Bible version searches. Stay tuned…

Bible SuperSearch Examples See how it could look on your website.

I have just posted a new page for “examples” of Bible SuperSearch installations.   This gives others a perspective of how the script could look on their websites. If you have installed Bible SuperSearch on your website, please add yourself to this list.   This is especially important if you have made major changes to it to incorporate into your website.   This way, others will see how they can incorporate it themselves. The examples page is at: https://www.biblesupersearch.com/examples

Bible SuperSearch 1.5 Released! Long Promised Multi Bible support and Boolean search now available!

I am pleased to announce the release of Bible SuperSearch 1.5. Bible SuperSearch 1.5 includes a Boolean Bible search feature. This powerful feature allows you to strictly specify your search using operators AND, OR, and NOT. It also supports the use of parentheses to group search terms. I have yet to find ANY Bible search software, web-based or PC based, that offers this full Boolean search capability. Bible SuperSearch also now supports multiple Bible versions. This semi-major release has the following new features: Support for hosting multiple Bible versions, including foreign language Bibles Boolean search feature including term grouping (parentheses). Four Bible translations avaliable, including Spanish and German translations. More will come later. A new installer/manager that allows you to easily install and manage Bible SuperSearch with multiple installed Bible Versions Also, these updates have been made: Better-looking browsing buttons for browsing the Bible Requesting a book without a search will return only the first chapter Some typographical errors corrected And many more! The release is offered in two different packages, the “standard,” which has only the KJV Bible, and the “full,” which includes all four Bibles: the KJV, Reina Valera 1602, Reina Valera 1909 (both Spanish), and the (unrevised) Luther Bible (German). To download additional Bibles, please see our Source Forge site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/biblesuper/

Spanish Bible Tested in Bible SuperSearch Multiple and Foreign Bible version support coming soon!

I have BETA tested a Spanish TR Bible on the Bible SuperSearch website.   I am using the 1602 (I think) Reina Valera translation.   You may note that there are a few bugs to be worked out, most notably that the verse and chapter references are given in English.   If anyone can send me text of the 1602 and other TR Spanish Bibles, it would be most appreciated. Support for this and other Texus Receptus Bibles will be included in a future release of Bible SuperSearch.   A date has not been set for this release.

Bible SuperSearch 1.0 Released! The free web Bible search has been officially released.

Bible SuperSearch, the open source, PHP and MySQL based Bible search and look up web script, has been officially released. Even in this the initial release, the script has some powerful features. It’s passage retrieval tool can look up most references, including many complex references. It’s search tool has all the features you would expect from any Bible search, including searching for ANY word, ALL words, or the exact phrase. You may also limit your search to only certain areas of the Bible, such as the Old Testament, the Prophets, or the NT Epistles. Custom search limitation is one of the most powerful features of Bible SuperSearch. By entering a passage into the “look up” box and a word into the “search” box, Bible SuperSearch will search the passage(s) you specified for the word(s) you entered. For more details on the features of Bible SuperSearch, see the Bible SuperSearch User’s Guide.
